Employee Spotlight: Sue Chicca
Name: Sue Chicca
Position/title: Office Manager/Bookkeeper
What do you enjoy most about working at Fuzion?
Definitely my co-workers. They’re the best.
Before working at Fuzion, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
One summer I worked at Seven Arrows Herb Farm. Learning all about the power of plants, herbal remedies and a natural holistic approach to life. There was no shortage of hard work in the gardens, taking care of the animals and customers. It was one of my favorite summers.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
I’d love to be a keeper at the Bronx zoo.
What is the one thing you can’t live without?
Designer handbags.
What’s your most memorable facepalm moment?
Exhausted after working a 10-hour day, I grabbed my raincoat to leave. I knocked a pen off my desk and when I bent over to pick it up, my raincoat was sucked into the paper shredder. Now one side had six inches of fringe. It was just me and Wayne in the office and when he saw it he couldn’t stop laughing. I still can’t believe I didn’t shut it off. When you hear stories about people being choked when their ties get sucked in, believe it.
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
It was here at Fuzion. On “Thirsty Thursdays” we usually spend a little time working on whatever puzzle we have going. It’s a great way to relieve stress. It’s usually Wayne that has us laughing the most.
What do you do when you’re not at work? Tell us about any activities or hobbies you enjoy.
If I’m not working here, I’m most likely working on jewelry in my home studio. I have a successful shop on Etsy that feeds my gemstone addiction. I’ve been designing and creating new gemstone settings. My son Ben has a metal casting shop in our garage and he actually casts the Sterling silver settings that I use and sell in my shop.
You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What color would you be and why?
Cobalt Blue, it’s my favorite.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
“You’re as happy as you want to be.” No matter how bad your day is going you can almost always find something to make you smile.
